**FAQs: What is the Staunton High School PTSA****
What is the Staunton High School PTSA?
You probably know or have heard what a PTA is– a Parent Teacher Association. At the High School level, the PTA allows for students to become members and get involved. Therefore, the PTA becomes a PTSA or a Parent Teacher Student Association! We are here to strengthen the school, staff, family, and community in partnership together. We do a lot of things, but basically we are here to support staff and students of SHS and to make SHS a better place to work and go to school. We even partner with local businesses to help us with events we host such as After Prom Party and Staff Appreciation Week. ****
When/where do you meet?
SHS PTSA usually meets the 3rd Monday of the month at 6pm. Our meetings last about an hour and you can come meet in person at SHS or Zoom with us from wherever you are. We usually meet in the office conference room. We send reminders of our meetings with Ms. Lightner’s weekly emails. Note for the calendar, we are meeting in April on April 14th – the 2nd Monday, due to Easter Monday holiday on the 3rd Monday.Find our Zoom meeting link here.Meeting ID: 880 6428 5100Passcode: SHS
How much is membership and how do I join?
Membership costs $5 per person. The easiest way to join is at a meeting. Or...Fill out this form, pay by Venmo (@StauntonHigh-PTSA), PayPal, or check. Send the form and check (if paying by check) to the SHS office. Other online option: https://stauntonhighschoolptsa.givebacks.com/store. Pick the PTA icon with your membership category listed (parent/guardian, student, teacher/staff, grandparent, community).
Why should I join?
Being a member gives you a voice and vote in our decision making. Having more members makes us a stronger organization and allows us to represent our SHS community better. However, you do not need to be a member to attend meetings or support our projects. You can send in brownies for the next staff workday meal we host or buy a Tidal Wave Auto Spa fundraiser coupon as a non-member, too!

The Good Start Fund is one of our ways to support our SHS teaching staff. We let the teachers pick up to $30 of items at Staples.com and we make the order and pay the bill. Teachers often buy items for their classrooms out of their own funds. This is our way of helping them purchase those classroom items that the school system does not provide but are needed. If you would like to contribute toward this project, you can send a check (payable to SHS PTSA, “Good Start Fund” noted on the memo line) or Venmo **us “Good Start Fund”.******
